About Me

My name is Miss van Adelsberg and I am a 5th grade teacher at Poinsettia Elementary.  This is my eighth year at Poinsettia Elementary and my ninth year being a teacher. I LOVE being a teacher and I LOVE teaching at Poinsettia Elementary! 

I was born in Los Angeles, California, an identical twin to my parents, Tracy and Joost.  My sister’s name is Krista and she is my best friend. My family moved to San Diego when I was four. Growing up, I attended Aviara Oaks Elementary, Valley Junior High, and graduated from Carlsbad High School.  

I am a mom to Charlotte Jo, the best daughter a mom could ask for.  Charlotte was born on March 8, 2022, and she is my world.  She has a half-sister and half-brother who she loves very much.  Charlotte and I live in Carlsbad with my fiance, Justin, who keeps busy as an Engineer for CalFire. 

I am very close with my family and I feel very lucky to have them. My mom, dad, and sister live locally and even occasionally help in my classroom. I am Auntie Jo to Rory and Henri and I love to spend my free time with them! 

I went back to school to pursue my teaching career after unsuccessfully finding my "dream job."  Going back to school to become a teacher is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Teaching is without a doubt, my "dream job." Not only do I enjoy teaching and spending my day with awesome kiddos; I am so lucky to get to work at such a great school with amazing colleagues.   I love my job and I am excited to teach 5th grade.
