Internships &         Work-Based Learning

Carlsbad Unified is committed to providing our high school students with quality work-based learning experiences outside of the classroom designed to prepare them for life after high school. Work-based learning opportunities such as mentorships, internships, apprenticeships, and jobs give students hands-on learning in a field of industry interest. They also build up students' resumes and essential soft skills, making them stronger candidates for jobs after graduation.

Imagine how ahead of the game graduates would be if you they were able to begin building career experience during their high school years? Plus, consider how robust their college applications or brag sheets would be if they included high school internship experience?

The work experience students gain helps them in so many ways, from prepping for college to helping them discover what they enjoy doing. Student work experience also benefits local industry and community partners, by giving them opportutnties to inspire and develop potential future employees and to build a "pipeline" of bright minds who are prepared for the future world of work.
