The Carlsbad High School Orchestra program offers a vibrant and inclusive musical experience for students of all levels. Our String Orchestra welcomes musicians of all abilities, providing a supportive environment for beginners to explore their passion and refine their skills. For those seeking a more advanced challenge, Chamber Orchestra is selected through annual audition and offers the opportunity to delve into more complex repertoire and perform at a higher level.

Both ensembles grace audiences with a diverse range of concerts throughout the year, showcasing their talent at school and events across Southern California. Beyond traditional rehearsals, students benefit from invaluable semi-private lessons and sectional coaching sessions during class, a unique feature that accelerates their progress and provides personalized guidance throughout their music studies.

Select students from the CHS Orchestra program are chosen to become a member of a small ensemble called "High Strung" that functions as a gigging freelance quartet/trio/quintet, offering a unique, real-world experience for the involved students. The group is self-run and members handle everything from music preparation and rehearsal planning to peer leadership, with current members selecting and mentoring new additions.

The Carlsbad High School Orchestra experience extends beyond the music itself. Students enjoy enriching school field trips, fostering camaraderie and creating lasting memories throughout the year. Leadership opportunities abound through the school's Orchestra ASB club and the prestigious Carlsbad's Tri-M Music Honors Society, an exclusive honors organization for band, orchestra, and choir members.
