Carinya Stage 6 Subjects 2024

Welcome

Senior School at Carinya is a key time for students as they prepare for their future. Our aim is to enable individuals to develop the skills and character required to take their place in society and function effectively in the workplace. Below are two goals that help us to achieve aim:

You matter because Jesus made you; serving Him is what matters most

Importantly, every student is precious and they are not defined by the ATAR mark that they achieve. Rather, students are encouraged to use the gifts they have been given and work faithfully. We hope they will find the inherent value of learning and find the desire to serve others and Jesus through what they learn. Students have a wide range of gifts and abilities and we realise that students engage best when they feel genuinely liked, respected and valued by their teachers. Consequently, Carinya strives to provide a learning environment where students can take risks, develop their skills and be nurtured as they pursue their life and career goals. Some practical ways we nurture each student's gifts is to encourage each individual to; consider and pursue Year 10 work experience placements that are suited to them, complete personalised career inventories, educate them as to the variety of post-school study and work pathways and to conduct individual career advice meetings in years 10 and 12.

Character is Important - and the answers can only be found in Jesus

As young adults, students are often trying to work out who they want to be. While students grapple with adolescence, it is important for them first of all to have an understanding of themselves as individuals made in the image of God. They have a Creator who speaks to all of their lives, including their identity, education and their schooling. This is why characteristics, which reflect our Creator,  such as humility, faithfulness, selflessness, integrity, ownership and courage are fostered and developed in our students. Students who develop these characteristics are not only valuable contributors in the workplace, but also in the broader society.
