A Message to Our AMAZING Families

This spring, learning has been happening in the space between school and home. We recognize that, and our 5th graders do too! We are so grateful for all you are doing to keep the learning going while also managing your own busy lives. We hope you have been making the most of the weekly SEL assignment to help your parents. Check here for ideas, if you are wondering what you might ask for next : )

We see you, and we thank you, 5th grade parents!

Math

We use multiple formats and modalities to teach math in 5th grade. Mr. Gerry's math instruction is rich in visualization, modeling and problem solving, as you can see from these beautiful Fibonacci checkerboards. Check out Mr. Gerry's 5th grade digital textbook to preview (or review!) some cornerstone 5th grade math concepts.

We also make time for:

  • Practice and formative assessment, through small group work with Ms. Rizzo, Mr. Chanin, and Mrs. Lawson during Math Gym
  • Exploration and games, during Mathletics, where the students work (and play) in mixed groups across the grade and with all their math teachers.
