First & Second

Hello! 

My name is Dori Stulc, and I am thrilled to be teaching 1st/2nd grade this fall for the 2026–27 school year! This will be my 4th year at Cardwell, and like many rural schools, I've embraced the flexibility of shifting grade levels each year to help meet the staffing needs of our community — and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I hold a Master's Degree in Education from Montana State University. My husband and I are proud Bobcat fans — he even attended MSU on an athletic scholarship back in the day!

Speaking of back in the day, I began my teaching career in 1988, and this fall marks my 39th year teaching full time in Montana. Thirty-three of those years were spent in Belgrade, where my sons went through K–12.

In 2023, I retired from Belgrade Schools. My husband and I had found land and built our dream home in Milligan Canyon. I knew deep down I wasn't ready to step away from education, and after turning down opportunities in other fields, I discovered an opening at a small rural school: Cardwell. Having attended a rural school myself in grades 6–8, I thought I'd give it a year. Well, I fell completely in love — with the school, the children, the families, and the community. So here I am, happily teaching in what has become my favorite place in my entire career!

One of my greatest joys is creating a classroom that feels welcoming and makes children want to come to school each day. At Cardwell it feels like one big family, as we interact with all of the kiddos in all classes every day. 

When I'm not at Cardwell, you can find me out in my garden, catching up with friends, camping, or making the trip to Plains to visit family. But my most favorite thing of all? Spending precious time with my four grandchildren in Helena — it's the role I cherish above everything else.
