How much math do I need? We require at least basic high school math. AMIA! features current topics that are outside of the normal high school curriculum, and students will be taught the skills needed to complete the group projects.

What grades can attend? This program is for any high school/pre-college student interested in mathematics. This includes students who will have graduated high school in 2020 and are looking for a pre-college experience.

Where will students live? Students will live in the dormitories on Catholic University's campus from Sunday through Friday, and have meals in the cafeteria in the Pryzbla Student Center.

How much supervision is there? Aside from the faculty, there will be counselors, who will stay in the dormitories with the students and accompany them throughout the day.

What is the schedule? You can see the 2019 schedule here. The 2020 schedule will be similar. The actual schedule will be on the website in March.

What is the cost? The costs for 2020 are a $50 application fee + $1100 registration fee, and includes instruction, room and board from Sunday through Friday, and admissions to museums and events. Airport pick-up/drop-off is also available for an additional $60

What is the application deadline? Students can apply until June 1. However, we accept students on a rolling basis and our capacity for the program is 50 students. If the program fills up before June 1, we will close the application process early.

Can you accommodate special diets? Yes, Catholic University's dining services can arrange for special meals for you. Just let us know at least 2 weeks before you arrive.

How do I get to Catholic University? Is there an airport shuttle? Fly: The closest and most convenient airport is Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA). Students arriving by plane to this airport may take a taxi or Uber to campus ($15 - $30 each way) or use the public Metro system. Our staff is able to pick up students at Washington Reagan (this airport only) if we are notified by May 25, 2020. If a student wishes to use this service, a travel itinerary including arrival times, flight numbers, etc., must also be provided by this date. An additional $60.00 fee (includes arrival and departure) is charged for this service and must be included in your registration fee. Shuttles leave from Reagan National between 1:00 and 4:00 pm . Return shuttles will arrive at Reagan National on Friday by 2:00 pm.

Train: Students can take a taxi or Uber/Lyft from Union Station to Catholic University, or use the Metro subway system.

How may students are in the program? We have a limit of 50 students.

What should I bring? You will need to bring:

  • Casual clothing appropriate for warm Washington DC summer days
  • A rain jacket or umbrella
  • A laptop or tablet
  • Toiletries and other personal needs

Do I need to bring linens? No, a towel, blanket, sheets and pillow will be provided.

What if I don't have a laptop? Please contact us, we may be able to arrange something.

Is the program open to everyone, or just to Catholics? Like Catholic University, the program welcomes everyone.

Will I have the opportunity to go to Mass? Yes! The National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is on our campus. Counselors will accompany any students wishing to go to morning Mass.
