As part of our expedition planning, it is important that staff make the product the children will be making. This helps them to undertsand the process the children will go through, face the same challenges the children will face and feel the same sense of pride upon completion. My making the product themselves beforehand, this also means that children have a model to work towards and be inspired by.
For our charity single mondel product, Year 3 and 4 staff from across the Trust gathered together to write and perform together. They were supported by Geoff Hewitt, a local singer, songwriter and producer who will also provide expert support to the children during the expedition.
Check out our beautiful CD Cover for our charity single. This has truly been a collaborative effort within schools and within the Trust. You can see the beautiful work that has been created by the children from the very beginning of the Expedition, whereby the front cover was designed.
We think that this is a fitting cover for the Expedition 'Why should we protect our beautiful plant?' with the polar bear theme. It is one of our most endangered and vulnerable species. Without studying this maginificent creature, the children may not have been as inspired as they were to make a change to their local community and the world. This striking cover helps raise awareness perfectly.
We would like to thank Geoff and the Comms team once again for making this a reality! Thank you also to the other Trust Schools and for your collaboration in this awesome expedition.
LKS2 have been lucky to have Geoff Hewitt as an expert for their final product. Mr Hewitt came into Carcroft to write lyrics and verses for the charity single.
Year 3 were tasked with the challenge of writing about the environmental effects of climate change with animals. We wrote about the feelings of the animals and what is happening to their habitats. Year 4 had the challenge of writing about the effect of littering in our world. They have written about how plastic is causing issues to our beautiful world.
After the lyrics had been written, LKS2 had a jam session and practiced their verses, along with the chorus. The enthusiasm was lovely to see and we appreciate the help and support of Geoff. We are very excited to get in the studio and record our song. Check out the images below of the Carcroft Sessions:
LKS2 have been lucky to have Geoff Hewitt in as an expert again, as we practiced our song. This was one of our final practice sessions before the big day of recording and heading into the studio.
We made sure that we worked really hard on not rushing our singing. Then we focused on timings and singing in synch with each other. Although this was not easy, we smashed it and did a great job. Our singing is coming on leaps and bounds and we're ready to get recording.
Geoff was really impressed with the enthusiasm shown and how hard we were trying to make sure this song turns out great. Check out the images below of the Carcroft Sessions:
LKS2 have now finally recorded their charity song at the studios in XP. It was a great day, full of lovely singing, where we nailed the final takes. The children sang their hearts out to ensure they created a beautiful product.
This has been a labour of love, where the children have written the song with expert Geoff. Geoff had a friend along, Alex, who helped with the takes and encourage the children to be the best version of theirselves. A huge thank you to Geoff for helping make this happen!
We can't wait to here the final mix and how this truly unique final product turns out. Check out the images from the exciting, final Carcroft recording sessions:
