Dear Parents                                                May 17th, 2026

WOW!!! This is the LAST REGULARLY SCHEDULED SUNDAY AFTERNOON LETTER from me to you!  I can't believe we are at this moment already this year, BUT WE ARE!!

With School dismissing WEDNESDAY, there will be NO DIFFERENTIATED STORIES or SPELLING LISTS this week.  There will also be NO MATH HOMEWORK PAPERS!.  We will spend Monday and Tuesday working to get as far as we can through the remainder of the lesson we are currently on in our iReady Math books =- Adding and Subtracting three digit numbers and adding numbers in columns (problems with more than three addends).  Our CKLA Reading Program work will focus on the last unit we are in - FIGHTING FOR A CAUSE - and completing the last lessons and the videos that accompany our KNOWLEDGE 7-12 Book.

Probably tomorrow we will send home as much of the contents of our desks as we can - our CKLA books (both Knowledge and the Skills 6 book) and our iREADY Math Book.  Instead of just throwing these away when they make it home.... if they get home.... you might look in these books to see if there are some pages you might use for SUMMER WORK that will surely help to keep skills up to date for the start of Third Grade in August.  Our ROBOT book is worth YOU taking a look at to see how your children report what they do on the weekends!  There are some very FASCINATING stories in them!  Our WW BOOK is a collection of all the CHARACTER EDUCATION lessons we have covered in class with our WISE WORDS  program.  There are many, many great sayings and quotes from the people we studied this year that have helped to shape great character traits in people throughout the ages.  WORTH LOOKING AT!!

On WEDNESDAY, we will be signing yearbooks, watching our END OF YEAR VIDEO which is an annual event on the last day of school in my class, and saying our goodbyes.  You will receive a FLASH DRIVE with the END OF YEAR VIDEO, as well as a laminated card with a QR CODE for those who use that technology to access online media instead of flash drive hardware.  ENJOY!!!

Please use our CURSIVE HANDWRITING BOOK as a practice book to continue the work we have begun in learning how to write in CURSIVE WRITING.   I have heard that Cursive Writing Instruction in Third Grade is VASTLY DIFFERENT than the instruction we did this year!  I would be interested in hearing from you on what you think of your child's ability in CURSIVE WRITING.  Like everything we do in life. PRACTICE improves our abilities when learning a new skill  If you practice with your child in Cursive Writing this summer you will be helping them master this new skill and may insure that they will have LEGIBLE PENMANSHIP in the future.  NOW THIS BALL IS IN YOUR COURT!

No more book reports are needed to be turned in this week.  Thank you to those of you who helped your children stay on task with completing their monthly reading quotas this year.  You have given your children a great example of what it means to be a responsible student. in getting homework and assignments turned in on a regular schedule.

Report cards will be sent home on WEDNESDAY in a large envelope that will include some practice suggestions and materials for the summer.  Please check in with the PRICE CITY LIBRARY for their Summer Reading Program.  It is always an interesting activity to keep children reading over the summer.  Miss Renee sent home a summer reading program  note that will get free books sent to you.  I will include READING CALENDARS for June, July, and August in the packet as well.  ANY STUDENT THAT BRINGS ME A COMPLETED READING CALENDAR PACKET ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IN AUGUST WILL RECEIVE $5.00 CASH.  I am that committed  to having your children READ OVER THE SUMMER - even to the point of BRIBERY!!!  PLEASE KEEP THEM READING!!  THANKS!

At International Days in AUGUST our newly formed HARMONIKIDS group will be performing on the center stage at 4:00 PM on the FRIDAY of the International Days Weekend.  HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!  THEY WILL BE GREAT!!

I am also including below the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE song we have been practicing in school.  Singing this often is a great music activity, and a good dose of PATRIOTISM is not a bad thing to cultivate in our children.

If you continue to use our class website  you can keep accessing all of our RECORDER SONGS that we have practiced, and can learn the rest of the 50 RECORDER SONGS available on that website!.  WOW WHAT A GREAT RESOURCE!!!

Have a GREAT WEEK and a safe and enjoyable rest of the week off!

WE DESERVE IT!!

Sincerely  yours,

S. Lasslo
