Best Dress with caps & gowns - Meet in the Main Gym by 6:00 PM. The gym will be open starting at 5:30 PM with places to come take pictures with friends.

Caps & Gowns

EVERYONE will be wearing the SAME cap & gown this year - blue/white combo (see picture below).

If there are seniors who don't plan to "walk" due to economic hardship, please contact the school.

DO NOT decorate your cap! Caps should all be PLAIN for the graduation ceremony.

(If you'd like to decorate it AFTER graduation, you are more than welcome to do so, but please do not embellish anything for graduation.)

CORDS

Cords are awarded for Honors (gold for GPA 3.5-3.74) and high honors (blue/white for GPA 3.75-4.0). Seniors who qualify for these cords will receive their cords at checkout when they pick up tickets.

Other extracurricular cords are given by clubs and organizations. Talk to your teacher/coach/counselor for information about those.

Dress Code

For Families: This is a formal/serious event marking a major rite of passage for students. Please dress accordingly to show respect to students and the event. We recommend best dress. (Please no spike heels - help us protect the expensive track surface!)

For Students: This is a formal/serious event. Dress to celebrate your success! Best dress = Clean and Neat

Boys should have a collared shirt and your nicest pants. Girls may wear dresses/skirts/nicest pants.

NO flip-flops will be allowed (tacky).

NO spike heels (they can damage the new track and sink in the grass of the field).

Tickets Are Required! (and FREE)

BUT, all student fees must be paid and any "U" citizenship marks must be worked off before tickets can be picked up.

Each graduate will receive 7 tickets in total. There will be 4 yellow "priority" tickets and 3 "general" tickets. The yellow "priority" tickets are in case graduation needs to be moved inside. ONLY yellow "priority" tickets will be accepted at the door if that happens. **Yellow tickets allow admission both outside and inside.**

Anyone with a heartbeat attending graduation needs a ticket.  (Yes, that means babies and toddlers.)

If you have any extra tickets that you do not intend to use, please return them to the CHS Main Office.

Graduation will also be livestreamed via ETV,

so additional family and friends can watch online.

Extra tickets may be available as we get closer to graduation and have a confirmed number of graduates.

Request extra tickets HERE

(the link opened Tues, May 2, 2023 at 8:00 AM).

(Tickets will be distributed at senior checkout starting May 19, 2023. They can also be picked up after that.)

Please do not bring food/drink into the stadium.

Restrooms are located by the main gym.

Handicapped Access

There is limited parking available for those with handicapped tags.  For wheelchair access, there is space at the top of the bleachers. If you have special circumstances, please contact the school.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located by the Main Gym (parking level) and in the Concession Building (track level).

Diplomas

The Carbon High School Graduation is a very important ceremony.  In order to reduce distractions and maintain the order and professionalism of the proceedings, we must clarify expectations regarding how this ceremony is to be conducted.  Only individuals sitting on the stage and wearing graduation regalia will be allowed to hand out diplomas.  This will include: Carbon High School Administration, District Administration, School Board Members, and Carbon High School teachers.

As is traditional, students will receive their diploma COVERS during the graduation ceremony.

Official diplomas will be available for pick up at the Concession Building immediately following the graduation ceremony.

Pictures

Students are welcome to take pictures while they are gathering/waiting before graduation starts.

Information regarding professional photos will be provided at the top of this same website following graduation. (Links, contact information, etc.)

After Graduation

The football field area will be open to students and families to mingle and gather for ONE HOUR following the conclusion of graduation ceremonies.  Please feel free to mingle, take pictures, and celebrate during that time. You can also pick up diplomas and leave for individual family celebrations. Please be smart and safe!

By Fri, Feb 24: Verify your name on the diploma list posted in the library. This has been announced numerous times over the past several weeks.

By January 31, 2023: Please order your cap & gown (if you have not already) to guarantee your size is available. You can still order after that, but sizes may be more limited.

By December 31, 2022 Caps & Gowns are $32 until December 31, 2022. After that, caps & gowns will be $42.

If you're not sure if you ordered already, please email Heather Baker (bakerh@carbonschools.org) to verify.

Monday, November 14, 2022, 12:00-1:00 PM: Jostens will be here at the school to drop off class rings for juniors and seniors. Monday is an early out PLC day, so this is right after class ends/during lunch on that day. (If you can't make it during that time, don't worry. You can pick them up from Mrs. Baker in the library after that.)

Wednesday, September 7, 2022: Jostens will be back to pick up orders for rings, letterman jackets, graduation "gear", etc. They will be here from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM (all day). They will have a ring guide to help you find the right size and letterman jackets to help you get the right fit. Orders can be completed using order forms sent home with students on September 1. Orders can also be completed ONLINE (Jostens.com).  You can also call Jostens if you have any questions.

Thursday, September 1, 2022: Jostens* is coming! We will meet in the auditorium and you'll pick up a packet for ordering caps & gowns, rings, announcements, etc. This will be a short 20 minute gathering/presentation in the auditorium. We will call you down out of 2nd period. Please plan to attend, but packets can be picked up in the library after the meeting if you are unable to be there in person.   *Jostens is our graduation vendor.

**If you missed the assembly in the auditorium on September 1, you can pick up a packet in the Main Office or the Library.

This is the new cap and gown style for CHS.

All students will have the same cap and gown at graduation going forward.

If you have not yet ordered a cap and gown, talk to Mrs. Baker in the library ASAP. We do have a few extra caps & gowns on hand that can be purchased through the school main office; however, we don't always have ALL sizes available.

Cost is $42. You can pay in the main office.

**If you are NOT planning to "walk" (participate) in the graduation ceremony, please let Mrs. Baker know. You will still receive your diploma (pick up May 25th), but you will NOT need a cap and gown.**

Caps & Gowns were delivered by Jostens on Monday, April 17th. (If you weren't able to pick things up that day, they are now available for pickup in the LIBRARY. See Mrs. Baker.)

Text TO this number: 81010 (this is the contact/phone number)

Write this in the MESSAGE box: @2023dino (this is the text message)

**Parents are also welcome to sign up for Remind texts using the same information above. Just be aware that messages are generally directed to a student audience.**

How do I know if I'm "walking" at graduation?

In order to participate in the graduation ceremony (or "walk" at graduation), in addition to having all the credits needed to graduate, all fees/fines need to be paid and all U's (citizenship) need to be worked off

Check with Mr. Brooks (senior counselor) if you have questions about credits or U's. See Lori in the Main Office if you have questions about fees/fines.

QUESTIONS?

After you read through that, if you still have questions, please email Heather Baker (Graduation Coordinator) at bakerh@carbonschools.org or contact the Main Office (435) 637-2463.
