Course Description : (No prerequisites)
This course provides a background in the fundamental principals of Biology, with applications to every day life. This course is designed to be a highly interactive and hands on experience. Topics covered but not limited to- the scientific method, chemistry of life, cell biology, photosynthesis/respiration, genetics and inheritance, evolution, DNA, and genetics. After completing this course students will take the state's Keystone Exam in Biology.
Course Content & Goals: Content is split between MODULE 1 and Module 2
Module i: Basic Biological Principles , The Chemical Basis for Life, Bioenergetics, Homeostasis and Transport
Module 2: Cell Growth and Reproduction, Genetics, Theory of Evolution, Ecology
Progress Learning (formally USA Test Prep): Our goal is to allow students in the class to work with self-directed activities while other students can receive individual attention from the teacher. Students will get a login in code for keystone specific courses. Biology I tests are completed in this format.
