Strengthening

CORE STRENGTH

Core muscles are the muscles that surround the abdominal, pelvis, and back regions. They include superficial muscles like the abdominals, spinal, buttocks and shoulder blade muscles and deep muscles within the back and pelvic floor as well as the diaphragm. These muscles provide an anchor for the arms and legs to move. They stabilize so that we can sit, crawl, stand, walk, jump, balance and MOVE! They are very important, as you can see! Some would argue they are the most important muscles to strengthen! Below you will find some ideas for strengthening your child's core muscles. It is best to vary the activities and make it fun. Children will work harder and longer when they are doing something they enjoy.
