Scholarship Information
Scholarship competitors have the opportunity to win:
1st place: $4000
2nd place: $3000
3rd place: $2000
Honorable Mention: $1000 scholarship to Pueblo Community College
Students who are interested in competing in the Capstone Scholarship Competition must score a 2.7 or higher on their presentation. Their presentation must also be completed before the end of 1st semester. Students who score a 2.7 after 1st semester are not eligible to enter the scholarship competition. If a student wishes to pursue the scholarship competition, they must rework their slideshow using this template. This includes a 30-60 second elevator pitch video on the first slide that explains your Capstone project and why you want to participate in the scholarship competition. Once you have completed your scholarship slides, you must send them to madison.tortessi@canoncityschools.org by January 31, 2024. Presentations received after this date will not be considered for the competition. Slideshows that are received will be screened for these items and you will be notified if you made it to the final round of the competition no later than February 13, 2024. The scholarship competition will take place on February 28 & 29, 2024. After you qualify for the final round of the competition you will need to sign-up on this document for your time slot and you must also return a signed Parent/Guardian Agreement Form to Mr. Summers by February 20, 2024.

Scholarship Poster
Winners of the Scholarship Competition must create a poster advertising their accomplishment that will be hung in the school. The following list contains requirements for this poster:
Content:
Your full name clearly displayed on the front & readable from a distance
Your fieldwork (i.e. Interning at St. Thomas More Hospital) or research and/or process in completing the capstone.
Your physical product or service title (i.e. Teaching CPR to middle school students)
A graphic of some kind is creatively designed to explain your topic.
No spelling or grammatical errors.
Organization:
Must be neat, clear, and legible. Lettering that is cluttered or hard to read from a distance is unacceptable.
Information must be understandable and easy to follow.
Principles of design are considered (i.e. color schemes, composition, white space etc.)
Design:
Be creative. Make a poster that is a unique, artistic reflection of your topic.
Take pride in your work.
Use color and design to display your topic in an eye-catching and attractive manner.
