Welcome everyone!
Before we start our semester together, I'd like to take a moment to tell you who I am and why I am here. This will be my 22nd year in education. I am originally from Poland (please don’t hold that against me). My first degree was in Physical Education/Pre-Physical Therapy from Muskingum College (now University). I also minored in Biology and Psychology. I then continued my post-graduate education in the field of dietetics (nutrition) at Youngstown State University.
Before entering the school of education at YSU, I was in the workforce for about a year at a finance company… which has a lot to do with why I am here today!
I then had an epiphany, realizing that teaching was my true passion and earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education from YSU. I have also received my Master’s degree in Education from Ashland University.
My first four years teaching were just down Route 224 at Western Reserve H.S. I taught integrated science I & II and anatomy and physiology. I then moved to the Slovak Republic where I taught science at an international high school in the capital city of Bratislava. I taught life science, physical science, earth science, health and algebra and had students from over 17 different countries. From there I spent a year as an Elementary Science Consultant in Pittsburgh, PA and then I taught advanced and general biology at Massillon Washington High School in Massillon, OH. Fortunately for me, in 2011 I received a wonderful opportunity to teach in Canfield... which brings me here today.
My interests are quite eclectic. I have a great love for science and how it affects our everyday lives as well as history (which my younger self would probably be quite surprised by). In addition, I have a particular interest in weight training/fitness, football, horology and gastronomy. I also have various musical tastes, love our two dogs, enjoy traveling, and am extremely interested in my Slovak heritage.
I’m sure we’ll have an opportunity to learn much more about each other and I look forward to a great year.
