WATER SAFE CURRICULUM
At the beginning of the mobility, the students made stations on the topic of water to deepen the knowledge they had acquired during our Erasmus+ project .Some key Educational Outcomes of these activities are:
Quantified personal water use → Empowered reduction strategies
Physical + mental engagement → Deeper retention of conservation concepts
Cross-disciplinary learning (science, math, literacy) → Holistic understanding of water stewardship
Each station transformed abstract concepts into actionable knowledge, proving that saving water starts with awareness.
1.WATER CONSUMPTION
Students created personalized water footprint charts by quantifying daily water use across key activities (showering, laundry, gardening, etc.). Using a color-coded pie chart system, they visualized how household water use is distributed. This eye-opening exercise highlighted surprising water waste areas (e.g., a 10-minute shower uses ~120L) while teaching practical conservation strategies like shorter showers and rainwater harvesting.
2. MEMORY RUN
This high-energy station combined physical exercise with water literacy. Students navigated an obstacle course while matching terms like "save water" with corresponding images (e.g., a dripping tap vs. a rain barrel). The repetition of concepts like "water is life" and "rainwater reuse" reinforced behavioral changes for sustainable water use.
3.MAGIC BOAT
Through hands-on science, students discovered how surfactants (soap) disrupt water's surface tension. After crafting origami boats, they observed how soap instantly propelled their creations—demonstrating water's physical properties while drawing parallels to pollution's invisible impact on aquatic ecosystems. The activity concluded with a discussion on keeping waterways chemical-free.

A lively team competition tested knowledge on:
The water cycle (Q3)
Health impacts of clean water (Q1)
Conservation best practices (Q4: rainwater collection vs. wasteful habits)
Pollution consequences (Q7: ecosystem collapse)
Correct answers revealed shocking facts (e.g., toilets use 30% of household water - Q8), motivating students to become water ambassadors at home.

At this Web 2.0 station, children from all countries worked together to create an online book with the help of Storyjumper on the topic of our project
To deepen students’ knowledge of Vienna’s water infrastructure and prepare for their upcoming excursion to the 1st Vienna High Spring Water Pipeline, they watched an informative documentary showcasing the city’s innovative water management system. The film highlighted key topics such as:
The pipeline’s historical significance as a engineering marvel
How alpine spring water is sourced and transported to Vienna
Modern conservation efforts to protect this vital resource
Following the screening, students participated in an interactive Kahoot quiz to reinforce their learning. Questions tested their comprehension of the film’s key themes—from the pipeline’s construction to the importance of sustainable water use—while fostering friendly competition. This dynamic combination of visual learning and gamification ensured students were well-prepared to appreciate the real-world context of their field trip.

To raise global awareness about the vital importance of water conservation, the students channeled their creativity into designing powerful environmental slogans. With carefully chosen messages like "Save Every Drop", "Water is Life: Protect It", and "Our Future Flows with Water", they transformed simple cloth bags into impactful advocacy tools. This hands-on activity not only reinforced the project’s core mission of saving water but also empowered the students to become ambassadors of sustainability. By painting these slogans, they ensured their message would travel beyond the classroom, each bag serving as a mobile reminder of the urgent need to value and preserve our planet’s most precious resource. The activity perfectly blended art, environmental education, and activism, leaving a lasting impression on both participants and the wider community.
A part of the Mobility was the visit to the 1st Vienna High Spring Water Pipeline. During this visit, the students gained insight into how the water from the mountains reaches the capital Vienna. It was opened in 1873 and still serves the city's water supply today.
At the workshop “Eco detectives”, the students became scientists and explored the water life and habitat with all their senses. Each group carried out a few experiments:
Investigating water samples
Discovering animals in the water
Learning about plants
Examining soil animals and pond floor
Sensory exercises around the Pond
The visit to the Wasserturm (Water Tower) played a crucial role in the project "Do not let water leave us" by highlighting the historical and functional significance of water infrastructure in Vienna. This excursion provided participants with a deeper understanding of how water is stored, managed, and distributed in urban environments, reinforcing the project’s message about water conservation. The presentation by Jutta & Jenny explained the tower’s role in ensuring a stable water supply, linking it to broader themes of sustainability and responsible resource use. By exploring this landmark, students gained firsthand insight into the engineering behind water systems, fostering awareness of why preserving water is essential for future generations. The picnic afterward also encouraged reflection on the value of water in daily life, tying the experience back to the project’s educational goals.
The water tower in the 10th district of Vienna was built in 1898/99 and supplied the higher-lying areas of the 10th and 12th districts with drinking water. This task was taken over a few years later by the II. Vienna High-Pressure Water Supply, which was put into operation in 1910. From this time on, the tower was only occasionally in operation, for example when the II. High-Pressure Water Supply had to be drained for maintenance work. From 1956, the water tower was no longer used for water supply. Nowadays, the water tower is used for exhibitions and events
The Aqua Terra Zoo “Haus des Meers” was originally an anti-aircraft tower from World War II, it is now a zoo with over 10,000 animals resulting from almost 7 decades of dedicated scientific work. On 11 floors the students could see sharks, rays, turtles, salt and freshwater fish and some more animals on land. There are also activities to raise awareness of the protection of the ocean and its importance for us.
