The Law Association for Crimes Across History (LACAH), is a non-profit student international mock trial competition. These competitons are judged by real law students from top universities as well as lawyers and judges from around the world. Unlike any regular mock trial, LACAH's cases are set in well known parts of history - with cases such as bombing of Hiroshima, Agent Orange and more - putting famous historical figures on trial for the crimes they should have been convicted of. Despite being set in the past, LACAH case themed around social justice, addressing contemporary issues through studying history - reflecting the unchanging aspects of human nature and the forever unchanging relevancy of law. So far, LACAH have had 650+ participants from 41+ countries compete at tournaments globally. CA LACAH/ISMEC society is part of the Asia-Pacific region, with regional competition set annually being held seasonally in the fall and spring. (LACAH)
All students from grades 9-12 are eligible to register for LACAH in teams of (ideally) 4 students with 2 assuming the roles of barristers and 2 as witnesses. In each trial, competitors represent either the prosecution and defence party - which will alternate between each of the 4 rounds. Students will be required to be fully equipped and prepared for speeches and rounds of questioning by the opposing team - to which CA LACAH/ISMEC Law society leaders are here to help you prepare and guide you to participate at LACAH.
The fee for participation is $15 USD per person, which is to be paid through PayPal or WeChat pay through the LACAH website. If you do not have the above methods of payment and want to participate, please let the club leaders know!
