The International Students' Medical Ethics Committee is a club open to all international students who are enthusiastic about discussing the ethics of medical scenarios regarding the provision of treatments and the conducting of clinical trials. This is a student-led club, which is free of charge, and will meet regularly as a committee, with our club meetings being held online (time TBD). The club will last 24 weeks (half a year) with a total of 12 meetings. (ISMEC)
This club is held in partnership with Seoul Foreign School (SFS) high school students.
In ISMEC committees, club members will be split into teams representing the different stakeholders in the situation, with two or more students acting as the committee deciders panel. Then the teams will be allotted a set amount of time to prepare their case and arguments, but they must also prepare the sources from which they retrieved the information. When the committee commences, the decision panel will set the stage by overviewing the case with each stakeholder group will have time to make their opening remarks and general stance. Afterwards, the stakeholders will begin debating each other, starting with whomever has a statement they wish to start the debate with. By the end of the 1-hour committee session, the decision panel will make the official decision.
