It is important to note that CAMS is a performance arts school, and students are expected to be committed to their craft during their time as a CAMS students. Students will take their studio classes three to four times per week to learn technique, skill, and build mastery in their respective talents.
For incoming CAMS students, studio placements is completed under the following process:
Incoming students complete a rotation of each art class within their first two weeks in September to gain general exposure to each art form.
After the completion of their rotation period, students and families MUST complete a Studio Preference form to identify a student's top two (2) studio choices.
Additionally, students are MUST complete an audition or art submission for their top studio choices.
Ultimately, studio teachers will make the final decision based on the student's audition/art submission. Our aim is to ensure that students are always placed within their top two studio choices.
Once placed, studio classes CANNOT be changed. Studios will remain in the same studio for the entirety of their time here at CAMS.
CAMS scholars will use the arts as the lens into the world of literacy and will combine the analytic with the creative to develop their writing voice. Our scholars will have a conceptual understanding of math and become problem-solvers as they develop as mathematical thinkers. Creating students with the ability to analyze the historical context of the world and the global environment, our teachers prepare our students to take Regents exams and transition successfully to high school and college.
