Jordi Bruna, MD, PhD

Jordi Bruna is the Coordinator of the Neuro-Oncology Unit of Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge-Institut Català de Oncologia since 2010. Moreover, he leads the Neuro-Oncology research group, integrated in the Program of Molecular Mechanisms and Experimental Therapy in Oncology (Oncobell), at the Bellvitge Institute for Biomedical Research (IDIBELL). In parallel, he is Associate Professor at Universitat Autònoma de Bacelona (UAB), Medicine Faculty. His former training in Neurology, finished at 2004, was completed with the PhD studies in the Neuroscience program from UAB at 2012, and with several stages in USA (International Observership Program in Brain Tumors and Neuro-Oncology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation during 2012, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute during 2014). His research is focused on the development of novel neuroprotective strategies for cancer treatment complications, both at peripheral and central nervous system, and on gliomas treatment.

In addition, he has served on the Board of Directors of Spanish cooperative groups related with the Neuro-Oncology (SEN and GEINO), and he is active member of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), brain tumor Group. He is currently in the Editorial Board of Current Oncology and Revista de Neurología. He is author of more than 130 peer-reviewed papers and co-author of several books, and he has been involved in multiple granted national research projects and clinical trials.
