In September 2025 I successfully defended my PhD thesis, entitled "Essays on Monetary and Fiscal Policy", and I joined the Central Bank of Malta as a Senior Research Economist, in the Financial Stability and Macroprudential Policy area.
In August 2024 I started a one-year PhD Traineeship at the European Central Bank, within the Directorate General Economics, Business Cycle Analysis Division, working both on policy- and research-related projects.
In the Spring of 2024 I visited the Pompeu Fabra University, under the supervision of Professors Jordi Galí and Davide Debortoli. It has been an invaluable opportunity to strengthen my knowledge on Empirical Macroeconomics (with Professor Barbara Rossi), and to improve my doctoral thesis focused on optimal monetary and fiscal policy. I also have to thank Professor Edouard Schaal for his wise advice on Heterogeneous-Agent New Keynesian models.
In those days, I attended a presentation by the legendary Professor Florin Bilbiie, who I then had the pleasure of meeting in person. Finally, I participated in a lecture by Professor Benjamin Moll, on the occasion of his award as the 8th Calvó-Armengol Prize Laureate.
