This past November, Jess Walcott transitioned to the role of board President/Clerk when Scott Hoskins completed his 2-year term as President/Clerk.
Prior to taking on this role, Jess served on the board for 9 years, clerked multiple committees, and most recently served as Vice President/Assistant Clerk.
Some words from Jess:
"Nine years ago, Middletown Monthly Meeting asked me to represent our Quaker meeting on the board. While I wasn’t a camper myself, I’ve attended events on-site that gave me a sweet window into the magic of being at Camp Onas, getting to fly across the zip line trying not to drag in the pond or building leprechaun houses. Once our sons were old enough to attend Camp, I learned even more about life at Camp and got to hear ALL of the songs.
We have a very dedicated board of directors who all have their own stories of connection to the Onas community. I’d say we all feel lucky to be supporting the camp and each other as we transition into the next 100 years of Camp Onas. While we won’t be playing gaga at our board meetings, I do plan to bring more of the spirit of Camp to our business in my tenure as Clerk. I teach neuroscience and biology at Bucks County Community College. To me, board meetings are like my classroom where we tell jokes, encourage hands-on experimentation, and really listen to each other. Board members might even get their hands muddy during our meetings as we come up with creative solutions for our strategic work!"
Other updates in the board’s officer roles include Christine Godshall transitioning to the role of Assistant Clerk and Katie Hulihan assuming the role of Secretary upon accepting her nomination.
We would like to thank the following members who’ve recently ended their terms on the board:
Maike Haehle
Carol Purcell
Kevin Roche
Cheryl Sommer
Huldah “Beth” Taylor

Scott Hoskins, Clerk/ President of the Board from Nov. 2020-Oct. 2022, doing a lovely service to Onas by replacing the top of our well in 2021.
Some words from Scott, reflecting on his time as Clerk:
"Each of us brings a cause that is close to our heart, something we carry through this life, unique perspectives and gifts to the Camp Onas community. Camp grows because of our diversity of mission and, together, we make Camp into a place where each concern can be considered, other perspectives can be examined, and we can grow in our compassion and commitment".
It is through our community’s support that our diversity of missions thrive and deepen. As Clerk of the board, it has been my pleasure to serve the intentions of our community."
Thank you Scott, for your continued service to Camp Onas!
The Board lent a hand by helping staff cover the pool for the season.
October is a great time of year for the board's annual retreat. It's a lovely time to be at Onas, and the start of Camp's fiscal year.
Most of our Year Round Staff joined the Board for the Annual Retreat to answer questions, provide insight, learn from, and support the Board in its work.
