The memories and lessons I discovered while in MiniTHON will stay with me forever. During my time, I learned the value of community, leadership, and, most importantly, philanthropy. This experience showed me firsthand the impact of giving back to a cause greater than myself. I am continually grateful for the friendships and professional skills built along the way, and I will continue to support the pursuit of a cure for pediatric cancer.
Throughout my time in Mini-THON, whether as a committee member or part of the leadership team, I gained so much more than I expected. I developed leadership skills, time management, public speaking, and event-planning skills, but most importantly, I learned how my work could impact a community larger than myself.
One of the most rewarding parts was watching the Camp Hill community come together to support such an important cause. Mini-THON gave me lifelong friendships and strengthened my commitment to serving others. I will always be grateful for the memories, lessons, and lasting impact Mini-THON had on both the Camp Hill community and me.
I will always be so grateful that I was able to be a part of Camp Hill Mini-THON. The community will always have a special place in my heart, along with its goal of fighting for a cure. It truly is an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself, and I couldn’t be happier seeing my town continue to come together each year for such a great cause.
I am forever blessed to be a part of a community as rewarding as Mini-THON. Not only did my time with Mini-THON in high school develop many personal values that have shaped who I am today—compassion, empathy, and philanthropy—it also revealed to me that it’s possible to make a purposeful difference when a community is united by a shared goal. Throughout my time as a member of the Mini-THON team, I felt inspired to utilize my leadership, public speaking, and event planning skills to unify the Camp Hill community in the fight against pediatric cancer. Reflecting on my time, the relationships I built with faculty and peers, the joy I felt in campaigning for an amazing cause, and the memories I made as a part of the Mini-THON team will forever stay with me as I look back with gratitude for this organization.
Being involved in Mini-THON was incredibly impactful because it gave me the opportunity to be part of something so much bigger than myself. Through my involvement, I learned valuable lessons about leadership, communication, teamwork, and community. I am forever grateful for the opportunities and the lessons Mini-THON has given me.
Mini-THON gave me the opportunity and experience that inspired my career today. During my time with Mini-THON, I found my passion for planning events. This encouraged me to follow that passion to Penn State where I majored in Recreation, Park and Tourism management. I have continued to follow this passion into my career where I am now the Manager of Membership and Events.
Mini-THON taught me essential skills such as communication, organization and time management. As a high schooler balancing extra circulars with school, this was critical to my success. I am so grateful for everything that Mini-THON has taught me over the years and can't wait to see how it continues to impact the future!
Participating in Mini-THON shaped so much of my high school experience in many positive ways. I think that is to be expected of something like Mini-THON, a commitment that takes a lot of time, creates deep friendships, and most importantly, connects us with such an important and serious mission at such a young age.
Through my work on Camp Hill’s Mini-THON, I was honored to spend time with some of the Four Diamonds children and their families, including Lily Jordan, one of my friends and co-captains.
My engagement in Mini-THON profoundly changed my life in other ways that I did not expect, as well. In my role today in Dr. Grohar’s research lab at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, I work on a team developing safer, more effective, targeted drug therapies for patients with Ewings Sarcoma, a cancer similar to the better known, Osteosarcoma. This work has been a transformative experience for me.
From my time interacting with Four Diamonds children through my work today at CHOP, I know firsthand how important the work we are doing is to the patients and their families – both the fundraising and education involved in Mini-THON and the scientific research we do in the lab.
Even more special for me is knowing that I have had the privilege of continuing to preserve Lily’s legacy and channel her intense spirit and joy by helping other children with the same disease.
Participating in Mini-THON will always have a lasting impact on me. Aside from the amazing cause that you’re working alongside, it has taught me the importance of getting involved as much as you can with your peers! I walk away from Camp Hill Mini-THON with bonds that will last a lifetime and those contribute to the memories I will never forget!
Being involved in Mini-THON throughout high school gave me the opportunity to learn how to handle responsibilities and work professionally with my peers and other adults in my community. The inspiring cause also provided me with many memorable experiences that will stay with me for my entire life.
Being part of Mini-THON was the most impactful part of my high school experience. Having leadership in such a central part of our community gave me the structure I needed to grow as a student, leader, and person. I am forever grateful for Mini-THON and the lessons of community, friendship, and philanthropy it instilled in me.
Mini-THON taught me essential leadership skills that have helped me stand out amongst my peers when it comes to applying for leadership positions.
