2021 Student Challenge

The Campbell Union School District celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2021! Through the engineering and design thinking process, we honored our Past, celebrated our Present, and designed for our Future!

We partnered with the Campbell Historical Museum to have students design a Centennial exhibit. This is the first time the museum has created an exhibit featuring elementary and middle school students!

Each month, our Wonder Wednesday program facilitated students through an important part of the design process. View recordings of our year-long Wonder Wednesday journey here: bit.ly/cusdwonderwednesday and additional stories from our community members.

How might we transform our learning spaces?

How might you design your own learning space?

In Fall 2020, we started the school year in distance learning. Through the engineering and design thinking process, we empowered students to transform their learning space to best meet their individual needs!

Teachers order their challenge materials here - we checked with Synopsis and they support the use of their "Science Project" materials being used for our design challenge!

Students can start observing and taking notes on their current learning space or a family member's space. What helps you learn? What bugs you? Jamboard Example

Google Slides or Seesaw Lesson options are available for ready-to-go distance learning!

How Might We Re-Imagine The Library Experience?

The Campbell Library is looking for new ways to engage our elementary and middle school students. Through the engineering and design thinking process, the library is hoping to gather student input and ideas that will help them redesign their services, programming, and spaces.

Here are some specific needs that have been identified for the Campbell Library:

  • How might the Campbell Library better accommodate the different noise levels?

  • As you hear from different library users, you may discover some new needs: How might we.....?

  • You can also interview your classmates and other people at school to learn more about their library experiences.
