RAMP volunteers play a vital role in our schools. Here are the qualities and expectations that help ensure a positive and effective experience—for you and the students you serve.
We encourage you to spread the word about RAMP! Share the program’s goals, vision, and how others can get involved. Your voice helps grow this important effort.
At the same time, confidentiality is essential. As a volunteer, you may see or hear sensitive information. Please treat all student performance, behavior, and personal details as strictly confidential.
Each time you visit, please:
Sign in at the main office
Wear a volunteer name tag
Ask the office staff for your RAMP location
Sign out when you leave
Know Your Surroundings
Take a few moments to learn the layout of the school: the office, your assigned room, and nearby restrooms.
Flexibility is key! Schools vary in their facilities and resources. If your assigned school doesn’t have a designated room, make the most of the space available. Every interaction counts.
Students and teachers depend on you. Your consistency and reliability directly impact student progress. Please honor your scheduled times and be fully present during each session.
Teachers plan around your scheduled visits. Arriving on time ensures your student gets the full benefit of your support.
If you can’t make your scheduled time, notify the school office as early as possible.
Your role is to support and motivate—not to discipline. If a behavior issue arises, alert a staff member right away.
If a student feels ill or an accident occurs, notify staff immediately.
Know the location of exits and be familiar with emergency procedures.
Always work one-on-one with your mentee within view of a school staff member.
If anything is unclear, don’t hesitate to ask questions. We welcome your input! Throughout the year, we’ll invite feedback to help improve the program.
