Summer Reading
This year, we are participating in Scholastic's Read-a-Palooza. Students who registered before the last day of school should have a login and password for the site. It is not too late to sign up! Email Dr. Gardner to register. You may also keep a written log of minutes read and turn it in during the first week of school.
Get started
Step 1: Sign Up
Sign up with Dr. Gardner or with your ELA teacher to get your login and password
Step 2: Read
Read, read, read! Read books, magazines, blogs, e-books, or even listen to audiobooks.
Step 3: Record your minutes
Use your login and password to log your minutes read. Each minute gets you closer to earning cool prizes. Go to https://www.scholastic.com/summer/home/ and log your minutes or log them on a paper log (see Dr. Gardner to get one). If you post on social media about what you are reading, be sure to tag us!
Step 4: Earn rewards
Unlock digital rewards as you complete weekly challenges and access book excerpts, videos, and other content. We also have some cool #ccmsreads gear that you can earn. One of our top readers will win a Sphero! Also, record your books read to earn prizes from the Campbell County Public Library as well. All students who participate in the Summer Reading Program will be invited to a pizza party celebration in the fall.
Step 5: Help other kids
Once participating kids reach 25, then 50, and then 100 millon minutes collectively read in the Summer Reading Challenge, Scholastic will donate a minimum of 200,000 books to kids in need across the United States
Step 6: Find us on the map
Once readers begin entering their minutes in the Summer Reading Challenge in May, pins will appear on the map highlighting the top locations in each state. You'll also be able search for our school!
