Social Thinking Groups

Flex Social Thinking Class: Co-taught by Mrs. Ireland and Mrs. Burnett SLP

This class meets 1 time per week at the end of the day.

The focus of this group is to build and foster effective communication skills. Students will be taught and practice the zones of regulation/feelings, 5 point scale, big problems vs. little problems, whole body listening skills, thinking with your eyes, expected and unexpected behaviors, perspective taking, communicating/conversation skills with peers vs. adults, telling jokes, following the group plan, giving and receiving compliments, non-verbal body language, staying on topic, sharing/turn taking vs. interrupting, entering a conversation/ joining a group, and teamwork and group problem solving. This class is graded solely on participation and therefore is graded pass/ fail.
