About the National Honor Society (NHS):
As the nation’s oldest and most prestigious student recognition program, NHS is built on the four pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. This service-centered organization honors students who have demonstrated excellence in these four pillars.
Our Purpose:
To encourage academic excellence, develop leadership skills, and promote Godly character in the students of Calvary Christian Academy as they utilize their gifts and talents to serve the community.
Why NHS?
Scriptural Motivation: Jesus was the ultimate example of servant leadership and is our inspiration. In Mark 10:45 He said, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” In Matthew 25:35-40 Jesus describes when the Son of Man will come in His glory and will separate the sheep from the goats. He explains to the disciples that "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it (helped those in need) to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." Finally, Colossians 3:23 says, "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men." This applies to academics, speech, conduct, and every aspect of life. The National Honor Society provides a unique avenue through which high achieving students can live a life pleasing to the Lord, giving their best in all things, and serving others as Jesus modeled and commanded.
Personal Motivation: Being a member of NHS helps students to grow in their leadership skills, provides opportunities for serving within the CCA school community and beyond, and will help students to stand out in their college applications and on their resumes.
