SAT & ACT
Most colleges do not require standardized test scores. No public colleges in CA accept scores for admission. There are a few universities that require scores, and many that accept scores.
Should you take the SAT or the ACT?
That depends... if you are only applying to public colleges in CA, you won't be able to submit your scores. However, some scholarships require standardized test scores for consideration. If you are applying to a competitive private or out-of-state university, your SAT or ACT score might add value to your application.

PSAT
The PSAT can give you an indication of what you will score on the SAT, and it can qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship, which recognizes college-bound high school students with strong academic records. The scholarship program uses 11th graders' PSAT scores to select 50,000 high-scoring students. Fewer than 1 in 3 of those students will go on to become a scholarship finalist.
