How much RAM does your CAVA computer have? The newer computers have 16GB—users with less than 16GB of RAM should contact Trish Weber (trweber@caliva.org) to discuss their options.
Weekly, users should choose the ‘restart’ option which will invite updates to be installed. This will help make sure that the computer has the latest Browser and Operating System Software
If Chrome is causing issues, check to make sure it has been updated. Directions can be found here: Update Google Chrome - Computer - Google Chrome Help
Consider switching browsers – switching to Edge has been helpful for some users
If an external monitor is being used, connect it to the laptop with an HDMI cable instead of USB.
Check your home network – are there devices on your network that could be using Internet bandwidth while you’re teaching (Security Cameras, other household devices, etc.)? Most networks have two transmission frequencies (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz). Some users have improved their lagging by moving their home devices onto one frequency and assigning their school laptop onto the second frequency. The router/modem manual or ISP should have directions specific to your equipment.
Consider hardwiring your computer to your Router/Modem
