This session is designed for administrators and educators focusing on developing and strengthening programs, services, and instruction for students designated as Long Term English Learners. We will share resources developed by EL RISE! (English Learner Roadmap Implementation for Systemic Excellence) - an initiative to increase educator knowledge of the CA English Learner Roadmap Policy to support continuous improvement and equitable practices for serving English learners. Leave this session with tools and examples to support you, your students, and your colleagues.
Participants will become acquainted with:
templates and guidance in shaping inquiries into your own LTEL population
classroom practices and strategies that will support the strengths and needs of LTELs
the guidance provided in key California Department of Education resources, including Reparable Harm: Fulfilling the Unkept Promise of Educational Opportunity for California’s Long Term English Learners, Secondary School Courses Designed to Address the Language Needs and Academic Gaps of Long Term English Learners, and Renewing Our Promise: Research and Recommendations to Support California's Long-Term English Learners
