ACT - most students need the ACT for dual credit courses, 4-year colleges, some scholarships, and to fulfill the Math testing requirement for the A+ Scholarship if not met by the Algebra I EOC score. See the ACT website for dates and registration details. Students taking the ACT must bring sharpened #2 pencils, a photo ID, and their printed test tickets. Students may also bring an approved calculator if they wish to use it on the Math portion of the test, and a snack and drink if they'd like one during the break after the first two sections of the test. Juniors are able to take the district ACT in the spring. The school counselors register students who sign up for the Junior ACT by the deadline, and these students take the ACT during the school day with the district covering the cost of the test. Sophomores may take the PSAT as one of the factors in determining who is nominated for Missouri Scholars Academy and MO Leadership Seminar. The cost is usually $18 and the test is mid-October during the school day. The counselors announce and email when sign-ups begin, as limited spots are available.
Accuplacer - this alternative placement test is accepted at many 2-year schools in the area. See your school counselor if your admissions counselor would like for you take the Accuplacer. The cost is $5 per test and you can take Math, Reading, and Writing placement tests here at CHS.
Pre -ACT - all 10th grade students will take the PreACT test in the spring. This test is given under normal Pre-ACT timing and testing guidelines. Students will receive their scores, answers and online testing booklet 2-3 weeks after testing. The Math section of the Pre-ACT is one of the 3 ways students can meet the A+ Math requirement.
The school hosts ACT workshops each semester. Students purchase the workbooks through the school office and attend evening workshop sessions in Reading/English and/or Math/Science. The counselors are not in charge of the workshops, but we highly recommend them.

This is also a military entrance exam and can be helpful for practicing for the ACT. Students do not have to register for this exam. Any student who misses the ASVAB test at school or who wishes to retake the test can contact the Military Entrance Processing Station in St. Louis.
