Too many of us are being priced out of homes in our neighborhoods because corporate landlords are putting their profits before our safety 💰🚫. By voting YES on Prop 5, we give our local communities the power to fund affordable housing, clean water, and essential services 🏠💧. We all deserve the chance to live and thrive in the neighborhoods we call home 🌱.
Let’s fight for real solutions to the housing crisis—because safe communities are housed communities! 🛡️🏘️

Our communities need resources, and Prop 5 can help deliver them! 🏠🚰🚒
By reducing the 2/3 voting requirement to a 55% majority, Prop 5 will make it easier for local communities to build more homes we can afford and ensure clean water, emergency services, and the infrastructure we need to thrive. 🌱
Corporate landlords and real estate developers have been blocking affordable housing projects for too long by using the 2/3 requirement to rig the rules in their favor. Let’s put an end to that and vote YES on Prop 5!
Affordable housing and safe, well-resourced communities are a priority for everyone. Prop 5 is common sense—it empowers local voters to make the decisions.
Let’s vote YES on Prop 5 and bring these resources home! 🏡💧🚑

Here’s what they’re saying about voting NO on PROP 36:
WHY? Prop 36 would make us LESS SAFE by cutting $750 MILLION from programs that prevent crime before it happens 🚨 and instead increase prison spending by over $26 BILLION in the next 10 years 💸.
WHO? Prop 36 helps a few greedy corporations and "tough-on-crime" District Attorneys who profit off this prison-spending scam 🏦. Prop 36 hurts ALL of us by diverting money away from safety net programs our neighbors and loved ones depend on ❤️, while swelling the number of people in already-overcrowded prisons 🚔.
HOW? Prop 36 undoes criminal justice reform voters passed in 2014 that funded anti-recidivism programs like job training 👷♂️, transitional housing 🏘️, and education 📚.
WHEN? Vote by mail now and make sure your vote is counted by November 5th! 📬

Together, we’ve won wage increases for working people, clean air and water for families 🌿💧, and life-preserving rent control in cities across the state. We’ve defeated threats to our democracy at every level of government 🗳️. No matter where we come from in California, from the coast to the country 🌊🏞️, we know our diversity IS our strength 💫.
But wealthy corporations like the California Business Roundtable are trying to hold us back, stoking the flames of fear and cynicism to protect their profits at the expense of our futures. They profit from putting our people in cages and taking away dollars that could be used for affordable housing 🏘️.
True safety stems from having a roof over our heads 🏡, permanent affordable housing for all, eviction defense, guaranteed K-12 education 🎓, affordable childcare 👶, and community programs that serve our most vulnerable ❤️. The safest communities are those with the most resources for young people, people in crisis, and those struggling with mental health 💚. That’s why we’re #YESonProp5 and #NOonPROP36.
When we’re united, they cannot ignore us 💪, and we can deliver the things our families need—like healthcare when we’re sick, quality schools for our kids, and jobs that help us plan for the future.
This November, we can show these corporations that we're ALL in for ALL of us 👫, and we're not going anywhere. We’ll hold the line for our communities, loved ones, and neighbors, ensuring we put people before profit this election 🗳️
WEEK OF 10/7
🌟 Hey California Voters, 🏡 Housing is on the ballot this November! Do you have a plan to vote? 🗳️
We've got you covered! VOTE YES ON PROP 5: ✅
WHY? Help build safe communities we can afford to live in! 🏘️
WHO? Prop 5 would benefit working families, first-time homebuyers, and struggling renters trying to keep a roof over their heads.
HOW? Prop 5 gives voters more power to address local housing and public infrastructure needs by reducing the voter majority required to pass local bonds for housing and infrastructure projects from ⅔ to 55%- the same as school bonds. 💪

🌟 Hey California Voters, it's time to get informed and VOTE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BALLOT! 📣
This November, we can ensure safe and stable housing for more families 🏠, healthcare for ALL 🩺, and rehabilitation and recovery for our neighbors, no matter what we look like or the color of our skin.
Your vote matters-- especially here in California! ✊ We've won affordable housing, protections for renters, funding for schools 🎓 & public services, and so much more simply by voting together. 🤝
We've rejected greedy corporations trying to turn us against each other to rig the rules in their favor. 💰❌ We've withstood threats to our democracy by standing hand-in-hand for a shared vision of California that includes all of us. When we organize, we win! 🏆
🌍 That's why we knock on doors 🚪, dial cell phones 📞, and GET OUT THE VOTE every election to tell our communities when and how to show up.
🗳️ Vote for a future fit for ALL of us—the #CaliforniaWay.
Visit our website www.mvp.vote at the link in our bio to learn more about each proposition, and tag a friend in the comments! 👫✨
📣 Law enforcement and corporate prisons are pushing 🚫 Prop 36, telling us it’s about safety—but it’s not.
🛑 It’s a cover-up for years of failure. They slashed essential services that could’ve helped our communities, and now they’re trying to sweep the problem away by locking more people up. 🧹🙅🏽
✂️ Prop 36 takes $750 million away from housing, addiction services, and mental health programs 🏠🧠—handing it to the prison industry. Mass incarceration never kept us safe.
🟰 Everyone deserves access to real treatment and rehabilitation. Vote NO on Prop 36 for true community safety. 🦺

Let’s face it—where we can afford to live shapes every aspect of our lives. 🏡 It impacts the jobs we can get, where our kids go to school 🎒, and the resources we have access to. 📚 We must refuse to leave behind entire neighborhoods, communities, and groups of people as our state grows. 🌱
Investment in housing is a way to create thriving, diverse, and inclusive communities across our region. 🌆✨

We Are California and we deserve
💫 Futures Not Fortunes
💡 Care Not Cages
💫 Schools Not Prisons
💡 Mental Health Services Not Jails
💫 Housing Not Handcuffs
💡 Community Not Solitary Confinement
We know what keeps us safe - living in communities where everyone, regardless of what you look like or where you come from, has a good job with a fair wage, great schools and a roof over our heads. When we invest in what actually keeps us safe instead of dumping billions into prisons, our communities are stronger and all of us are safer 💛🌼
🏠 Vote #YesonProp5 for a simple majority that includes ALL of us! 🔓
When the LA TIMES 🗞 ENDORSED #YESonPROP5, they pointed out that any new solutions to our housing crisis would need to pass by a ⅔ majority vote-- in other words, JUST 34% OF VOTERS CAN VOTE TO BLOCK AFFORDABLE HOUSING. When 100% of us need a roof over our heads, why should a handful of voters have a larger say than the majority?
Imagine a world where 1/3rd of people write the rules for the rest of us...
🐶 1/3 of Americans don't own any pets
🌇 1/3 of all Americans live in big cities versus small towns
🛍️ 1/3 of people in California don't worry about how much money they have in their bank accounts
💰 1/3 of the country's wealth is owned by just 1% of the population

California is better when people have roofs over their head and services that help them overcome poverty and crisis 🏡
That's why voting #Yeson5 and #NoOn36 just makes sense - it will ensure our communities get the mental health and rehabilitation services we need to make our streets safer and keep people housed. But a handful of corporate interests like real estate, developers and private prisons are spending millions against us because they don't benefit when people are housed. They don't make money when people are safe and cared for. So we're coming together this November to fund our futures, not their fortunes. This is the #CaliforniaWay.
✅ YES ON 5: Help build more affordable homes and safer communities by giving us more power to address local housing and infrastructure needs.
❌ NO ON 36: Will make California less safe by decreasing funding for crime prevention programs that work– all while costing billions in new prison and jail spending.
Join our movement of millions of voters standing up to the billionaires trying to roll back our progress!

SOME FACTS ON 36:
✂️ CUTS $750 MILLION from housing, real treatment for addiction, and mental health services that increase safety and reduce recidivism
💰💰 DUMPS BILLIONS into failed mass incarceration that has never kept us safe

Everyone in CA deserves a safe and permanent place to call home, regardless of age, race, or income. So why are senior citizens becoming homeless at the fastest rate of anyone in California and what do we do to keep our loved ones housed?
A whopping 80% of homeless seniors had their own housing before living in a tent. How did we end up here?
Some are evicted because their landlords refuse to do repairs to the point where their homes are unlivable like in @acce_action member Maria Briones' story featured in the Cal Matters article
Imagine your landlord being so bad that *you* become homeless.
A big reason why so many seniors are becoming homeless is California's sky-high housing costs. But this isn't just a cruel reality. There are real solutions, like LA's Mansion Tax, #Measure ULA which funds affordable housing and prevents mass evictions.

We can hold leaders accountable for generating the revenue we need to ensure every one of us is housed, but we can't do it alone. Join our partners @acce_institute to learn more about how we can ensure housing is a human right.
If we're going to build a California that is safe and livable for working people like us, we have to do it together. This is the #CaliforniaWay
