AI in Education

As AI continues to evolve and becomes an increasingly common tool in education, we recognize the importance of providing clear guidance to support thoughtful, responsible and effective use of these technologies.  The newly developed guidance and framework documents are intended to help staff understand the opportunities, expectations and considerations when using AI in their professional work and when supporting students in their use of AI.   

The resources are designed to: 

• Provide a shared understanding of responsible and appropriate AI use within our organization. 

• Support staff in exploring AI tools in ways that enhance teaching, learning, productivity and organizational practices. 

• Promote thoughtful consideration of privacy, security, accuracy, bias, intellectual property, and other important factors when using AI. 

• Provide guidance for encouraging and monitoring student use of AI in ways that support learning rather than replace it.  

• Help staff establish clear expectations with students regarding when and how AI may be used for assignments, projects, research and other learning activities.  

• Establish a foundation for continued learning and development as AI technologies and best practices evolve.  

Our goal is to help both staff and students become responsible, informed and effective users of AI while keeping learning and human judgment at the center.
