What is a typical day at the Summer Academy like? Are there discounts available? How do we accommodate children with food allergies? You can learn the answers to these and other frequently asked questions.
Before your scholar’s first day, please submit the required forms. Scholars cannot attend camp before these important documents are forwarded to the University. During the summer, scholars are expected to wear comfortable attire with closed-toe shoes, and clearly label all belongings with their full name.
Will campers go on field trips?
No. All Academy activities will take place on the university property.
Upon arrival, the caregiver will drop their scholar off at the designated area, which is identified by signage and Caldwell University canopies. A counselor will sign in your scholar with arrival time on the attendance form. Scholars will join their pre-assigned group in Newman Gymnasium.
During dismissal, a caregiver will sign the child out and enter the pick-up time. Every authorized person MUST be at least 16 years of age and MUST have a valid form of ID. Scholars will be participating in activities during arrival and dismissal times supervised by their counselors.
A key component of what makes our academy unique is our staff. All of our staff will participate in a comprehensive training program before camp sessions begin.
All staff members attend a mandatory and comprehensive pre-camp training program that covers all University requirements. Examples of the training our staff participates in are: CPR/First Aid, Risk Management, Positive Youth Development Principles, Social Emotional Learning, and Inclusion Practices.

Staff, Safety, & Compliance
What is Caldwell’s criteria for hiring academy staff and what kind of training do they receive?
Caldwell recruits mature and capable staff to work in our programs. Most of our instructors are either Universtiy faculty or certified teachers from the State of New Jersey.
All staff members attend a mandatory and comprehensive pre-camp training program that covers CPR/First Aid, Risk Management, Positive Youth Development Principles, Caldwell Academy Standards, Social Emotional Learning and Inclusion Practices.
At Caldwell Summer Academy, safety is a top priority. The University ensures a secure environment for all students by providing 24/7 security personnel who patrol the campus both on foot and by vehicle. This round-the-clock presence is integral to the campus culture, offering peace of mind to students, staff, and families alike. The security team is made up of highly experienced retired law enforcement officers, many of whom have established strong working relationships with the Caldwell Township Police Department. Their professionalism and commitment to safety reflect Caldwell University’s dedication to fostering a secure and supportive learning environment.
During the registration process, it is extremely important that families notify the camp if the child has any medical conditions such as, but not limited to, allergies, asthma, diabetes or other conditions.
If a child is injured, the Nurse, staff certified in CPR/First Aid and all other camp staff will take whatever steps necessary to administer care and/or obtain emergency medical care.
