How can I help you?
(Tap or click on the questions below.)
Hi! My name is Sam (Samantha) Naple. I have been a Student Success Coach at CBU since 2014, and I have been assigned to the School of Performing Arts since 2019. I also advise majors in the School of Christian Ministries and am temporarily assisting Undeclared students and some online programs.
My BA is in Psychology, and my MS is in Education (School Counseling), both from CBU. Prior to CBU, I attended RCC, so I understand the special challenges of being a transfer (and commuter!) student.
While I attended CBU from 2007-2011, I played clarinet in Concert Band and survived multiple UCO tours (and dresses, see hot pink nightmare above). I've been a certified band geek since 1994, when I first started playing clarinet in the 4th grade.

Whenever registration season rolls around, take these two steps to figure out which classes you need:
Look at the sample plan of your major planning guide. (Click bottom tab labeled "Sample Plan")
Review your degree guide. (PDF version) This is especially helpful for transfer students.
PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO
Music Theory and Lab. Are you staying on track?
Ensembles and Private Instruction. Depending on your major, you should be in at least 1 unit of each. Check for "Residency Requirements" if you are earning a BM (Bachelor of Music).
Class Piano. Are you keeping up with your proficiency requirements?
Theatre Practicum. Are you taking at least 1 unit of practicum each semester?
Classes with Prerequisites. Look at the "Prerequisite" column on the major planning guide. Have you been taking these in the correct order to stay on track?
Scholarship Requirements. Which ensembles do you need to keep your music scholarship?
Always register for your MAJOR classes first. Start with ensembles, private instruction, and/or practicum, then add your other MUS or THE classes. Add GE and/or electives last, if needed.
WHEN?
If you have a music major, minor, or scholarship:
Seniors or Juniors = Tuesday, October 7th, 9AM
Sophomores or Freshmen = Thursday, October 9th, 9AM
If you have a Theatre major, minor, or scholarship:
Find your registration date* HERE.
*Registration dates for Theatre students without a music participation scholarship are based on your classification and the amount of units you have earned so far. For example, if you are a freshman with 12 units earned so far, your registration should open at 9AM on October 27th.
**If you believe your registration date is incorrect, email me and use the subject line "SP26 Registration Date Check!".
HOW?
PRO TIP: BOOKMARK THE CBU ACADEMIC CALENDAR.
FIRST, check the following:
Is your Term set to the correct semester? (SP 2026)
If you are trying to register for Theory/Lab, register for THEORY first. Then, InsideCBU will prompt you to add the Lab section.
If you are trying to register for lessons and ensembles, register for LESSONS (Private Instruction or Practicum) first. Then, add your ensemble(s).
Make sure your lessons and ensembles for Spring 2026 are the same as your assignments for Fall 2025!
Ex: If you are in MUS081-C for Spring 2026 but your instructor is not Prof. Stephens, change your section to the one you have for Fall 2025.

If you started here as a Freshman, follow the sample plan on your major planning guide.
If you started here as a transfer student or changed your major, you may benefit from creating your own degree plan and then reviewing it with me.
