registration troubleshooting
Use the list below to find solution options for your registration problems!
problem: i can't add, drop, or swap a class.
SOLUTION OPTIONS:
Go to your Add/Drop Courses page. Make sure your Term is set correctly (FA 2024).
If you are not seeing an "add" checkbox when you are trying to register, check the top of your Add/Drop Courses page for a hold message. A hold will prevent you from registration. Please carefully read the message and reach out to the office that has placed your hold.
Most common holds: Missing transcripts. Unpaid balance. FAFSA verification needed. TFA update needed.
If you got an error message when attempting to add a course, read the WHOLE MESSAGE, past "Ex: Must be a Sophomore to add". Address the issue.
Send a screenshot of the error message to me (snaple@calbaptist.edu) if you are not sure how to fix the issue.
problem: i can't add my private instruction, practicum, or ensemble(s).
SOLUTION OPTIONS:
Try registering for your private instruction BEFORE adding your ensemble(s).
If you got an error message when attempting to add a course, read the WHOLE MESSAGE, past "Ex: Must be a Sophomore to add". Address the issue. Most common issue is that you are missing department permission.
If you are missing department permission, email Courtney (cladd@calbaptist.edu) to request course authorization. Provide your name, ID, and the course code(s) and section(s) you need. Ex: MUS081-A
problem: i have a course conflict.
SOLUTION OPTIONS:
If the conflict is between two of your major classes in SOPA, email Courtney (cladd@calbaptist.edu) for assistance.
If the conflict is between a SOPA class and a class from a different department, make sure that you ABSOLUTELY need both classes. If there is no other option, register for the non-SOPA class first, then email Courtney (cladd@calbaptist.edu) for assistance.
If the conflict is with Chapel and you ABSOLUTELY need this course in this semester, please apply for Alternative (online) Chapel.
If you have already passed 8 semesters of Chapel, you may be eligible for a Chapel Exemption.
problem: A SOPA CLASS I NEED IS CLOSED.
SOLUTION OPTIONS:
Do you ABSOLUTELY need this class this semester? Email Courtney (cladd@calbaptist.edu) for assistance.
If you do not need this class this semester, plan to take it in a future semester. Contact me (snaple@calbaptist.edu) for assistance with adjusting your overall plan.
problem: i need academic overload, a variance, alternative chapel, credit/no credit, a directed/independent study, or a major/minor/catalog change.
SOLUTION OPTIONS:
Fill this out if you need more than 18 units this or next semester. Be sure to review all eligibility and financial requirements (listed on the form). You will be charged full tuition for each additional unit.
Fill this out if you are requesting to variance (replace) a degree requirement with another course.
Only fill this out if you are unable to attend in-person Chapel this semester due to an unavoidable course conflict, extended commute, medical/family situation, or work schedule conflict.
Only fill this out if you have passed 8 semesters of Chapel already (or if you have filled it out previously for another validated reason). You may be eligible for an exemption.
Fill this out if you want to change a course from graded to credit/no credit (pass/fail). Be sure to review all eligibility requirements (listed on the form). This form must be submitted before the last day to drop the course. You can find all registration deadlines on InsideCBU, under Academic Calendars.
ONLY fill this out if you have already secured an instructor for the course. Otherwise, your request will be automatically denied. Please note there is an additional fee for Directed/Independent Study.
Contact me if you have any questions about changing your major, minor, concentration, or catalog. Forms submitted for changes to music majors will be processed in mid-November to avoid incorrect charges on your account.

problem: I HAVE A DIFFERENT REGISTRATION ISSUE.
SOLUTION OPTIONS:
Are you missing permission to take a MUS or THE class? Email Courtney (cladd@calbaptist.edu).
Are you repeating a course for the third (or more) time? Email me (snaple@calbaptist.edu) or stop by during my office hours.
