As students today have access to a wide range of information at their fingertips, we need to prepare them to navigate the Internet safely and productively. In order to do this, each year Cajon Valley students will participate in digital citizenship 4 lessons from the following areas:
1. Digital Footprint and Identity: We define who we are. (Common Sense)
How can I cultivate my digital identity in ways that are responsible and empowering? Students consider the benefits and risks of online sharing. They explore how their digital footprints can affect their sense of self, their reputations, and their relationships.
2. Privacy and Security: We care about everyone's privacy. (Common Sense)
How can I keep my private data safe and secure? Students learn how to protect private information and gain a deeper understanding of their data privacy rights so they can advocate for themselves and others.
3. Cyberbullying, Digital Drama & Hate Speech: We are kind and courageous. (Common Sense)
How can I connect positively, treat other respectfully, and create a culture of kindness? Students explore how to cultivate empathy, compassion, and courage to combat negative and harmful interactions online.
