Get to Know Your Teacher

Hi,

I'm Ms McDevitt.  I am a teacher at Hillsdale Middle School. I have been a teacher for 22 years and have mostly taught  7th and 8th grade  science during that time.

I am originally from New Mexico.  I was born in Albuquerque, and grew up in a small town. When I graduated from high school, I moved to San Diego to attend San Diego State University.  I majored in Business and worked at  a small business for several years. I decided to become a teacher after  I was inspired by being a Girl Scout Leader- I enjoyed the kids so much I decided to change careers!

I have two daughters.   My daughters are Rhiana who is 34 and Tiahana who is 25.  I also have a grandson whose name is Charlie. He is 4 years old and a bundle of fun!I love spending time with my family and I especially enjoy holidays and traveling with them.

For fun,  I like to garden, ride my bike and read. I really enjoy being outside, especially in the spring and fall.

I love to travel and to go camping.  I would like to visit every state capital in the United States.  So far I have been to  35!
