Hello and Welcome Cabrillo Families!
My name is Lórien Eck. I am a passionate art educator and lifelong learner who enjoys helping others discover the joy of creative expression.
I am passionate about teaching art in ways that inspire creativity, self-expression, and connection. Students are encouraged to explore their imagination, build confidence, and experience joy in the creative process. I aim to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student feels valued.
I hold a B.A. in Studio Art, an M.Ed. in General Studies, and a California TK–12 Teaching Credential in Art with EL authorization (CLAAD). My teaching experience spans Los Angeles and Orange Counties, where I have been recognized as an award-winning educator and highly qualified teacher, with professional achievements including National Board Certification and various school leadership roles.
I have taught in international settings including Ghana, India, Guatemala, Thailand, and China. Within the U.S., I've taught classes in upstate New York and southern California, including writing, producing, and hosting a segment series on Homework Hotline, a PBS television program with a daily audience of several thousand students (KLCS, Los Angeles).
In addition to teaching, I maintain an active studio practice as a mixed-media artist at Waterfront Studios.
I believe every student is inherently creative and curious. Through meaningful engagement in the arts, students develop imagination, confidence, and academic growth.
I look forward to meeting and creating with your student/s soon!
