Class overview
Applies techniques of coastal environmental monitoring from shore, ships, satellites, or underwater observatories to hands-on marine science research related to climate change, coastal erosion, pollution, fisheries, and biodiversity. Students deepen their knowledge of the ocean by engaging in project-based learning.

Tuesday and Thursday 8:00-11:05am
We meet in Room 705 and off-campus. Off-campus meetings are weather- and tide-dependent and typically comprise 40-50% of class meetings. Transportation with either be in a college van or students will arrange their own/carpool. Most off-campus meetings will be at nearby the Seacliff, Rio del Mar, or New Brighton beaches. Additional field trips often include research out on Monterey Bay and to marine research facilities in Santa Cruz or Moss Landing.
