Y12 Careers is delivered by form teachers during pastoral lessons. It is divided into 2 units. Unit 1 is delivered during Term 1 and encompasses careers lessons using the platform Unifrog, careers information from a range of stakeholders, research on Higher Level Apprenticeships, and advice and guidance from form and subject teachers. All students research the latest Labour Market Information, accessing Skills in Demand Bullletins from the Careers Service Northern Ireland.
Students complete a series of lessons in Unit 2 Careers at the beginning of the scond term. These lessons include UCAS research, post-16 options, information about the Foyle Learning Community, details about A-level subjects offered at Thornhill College and all students complete a Personal Career Plan, List of Achievements, and a Personal Statement.
In addition to this, all students receive an individual guidance interviewe with a careers adviser from the Careers Service, NI.
