Volleyball Leadership Award

In partnership with Northern Ireland Volleyball the shared education partnership is delivering a six week Mini-Volleyball Leadership course in each of Antrim Grammar School, Parkhall Integrated College and St. Benedict’s College. At the end of the course, students draw on the skills learned to deliver a coaching session to younger pupils.

Mini-Volleyball is a new approach for initiating people to the game of Volleyball which uses simplified techniques and focuses on participation. This new approach “To play, to succeed and to rally” gives young people the opportunity to learn the fundamental principles of volleyball through activities which are adapted for their size and abilities. Students become leaders in this approach with the ultimate goal of coaching younger pupils.

The aim behind the project is to foster life skills: self-esteem, communication, leadership and teamwork skills and develop students' sense of positive contribution to the school community.
