Why should I choose History?

History helps us to understand change and how our world has developed.

History helps provide us with an identity which then helps us to become good citizens of our nation.

History helps us to develop important skills needed in many jobs/careers e.g. an ability to analyse and an ability to make reasoned judgements.

The History Department in Holy Cross College has excellent examination results. Work hard and you will do well!

What will I study?

In Year 11, you will study “Life in Nazi Germany 1933 - 1945” and you will also study an Irish topic; either “Changing Relations: Northern Ireland and its Neighbours 1920-1949” or “Changing Relations: Northern Ireland and its Neighbours 1965 -1998”.

In Year 12 you will study “International Relations 1945 – 2003” with topics like the Vietnam War and 9/11.
