Teacher Bio

My name is Tara Matos and I am a native of Colorado! I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two boys who are 13 and 15. We also have one dog and one bearded dragon! We love spending as much time as possible outdoors. We spend a lot of our spare time camping, boating and riding atv’s. We also spend a lot of time watching our kids play baseball!

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. This will be my fifth year teaching at C2E. I student taught in 2nd Grade in 2015. I have also taught 1st and 3rd grade. My passion is teaching 1st grade. I love this age group, their love for school, and their curious minds! I can’t wait to meet all of my students and get the year started!

My philosophy for teaching is to foster a love for learning. I not only want to make it fun to learn but I also want to encourage critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills. I believe that each child has the potential in bringing something different and unique to this world. Each child has individual needs that I must meet and it is my goal to help them grow and mature emotionally, intellectually and socially so they can become productive members of our society!

The type of values I want to instill in my students are honesty, integrity, and compassion for one another. I also want them to know they are safe and cared for in my class. As a teacher, I will give them the tools they need to be successful and to help them feel confident and to believe in themselves. As I share my passion for learning with my students, I can only hope to instill a love for learning in them as well!
