Homework & Class Policy

Policies for homework will be consistent with C2E and Middle School Policies.

What to Expect

Learning should be fun! We will spend a lot of time discussing, doing interactive activities, creating, and exploring. We will also do a lot of reading and writing.

My classroom will be a safe place to learn and grow, but to do that we all have to be on the same page with expectations.

Grading Scale

93%-100%=A 78%-85%=C

86%-92%=B 70%-77%=D

Less than 70%= F

Homework

NO busy work!!!! Your homework will always have a purpose. Homework should take no more than thirty minutes. Homework is not assigned on weekends. Homework assignments may be viewed on the calendar on the night they are to be completed. They are due by 8:00 the next morning unless indicated otherwise.

Make Up Work

The easiest way to succeed is to be in class! But, absences happen so...

• If you knew that you had a test or a project due on the day that you missed, you are expected to make it up or turn it in the day you return.
• You will be allowed to turn in assignments late for full-credit when absent. Time frame for late work following an absence will follow C2E's policy as outlined in the Handbook.
• Make-up tests must be scheduled with me ASAP after returning to school. You can email, or see me to schedule a time to take the exam. It is YOUR responsibility to schedule this.
• It is YOUR responsibility to check the website to obtain your missed work. You must put forth this effort.
• I am happy to help you, however you should come to me with specific questions after using your resources (website or calendar), Please do not ask me "did I miss anything?" or "what did I miss?"
• Being absent is not an excuse to not do your work.

Late Work

• Late assignments receive a 50% deduction.
• Work will not be accepted for a grade after a unit is completed (ex: Africa homework will not be accepted when we have moved on to India, etc)
• If an assignment is submitted late for ANY reason, email me to tell me that the assignment is complete. Grades will not be updated without this step.

*Parents and students, please keep in mind that Infinite Campus (gradebook) is updated at least once each week for all students. Missing assignment and failure notifications will be emailed weekly through our automated system. Due to the high volume of grading and data entry, it is not always possible to update each student's grade daily. Please be patient. Late work is graded last, so it may take additional time to be updated.

• If you know that you will need more time on an assignment, come talk to me BEFORE it is due and we can work together to find a solution.
