Week of October 20th
Math:
Students will review and test for Module 4: Mathematical Expressions. Students will then begin Module 5: Volume
Reading:
Students will work on understanding main idea, comparing and contrasting, and setting/character/plot. We will practice through this week's Open Court Reading: An Excerpt from Hatchet, and through our novel study Hidden Figures, in small groups. Students will need to complete their week 5 comprehension questions and turn them in Friday for a grade.
Spelling/Writing:
We start the week with a spelling pre-test. Students have a spelling packet to fill out this week for homework to practice their Spelling words for Unit 1 Week 6 Spelling quiz this week will be on Friday. They must turn in their spelling packet Friday.
In writing, we will continue working on our Informational Essays. This week we will draft our introduction paragraph and start working on drafting our body paragraphs.
In grammar, we will review use of prepositions.
Science Labs
This week we will learn about why we experience seasons. Then we will review seasons and start to talk about gravity.

Math - HMH Into Math
A K-8 math curriculum, HMH Into Math supports students as they develop their conceptual understanding and grow into procedurally fluent mathematicians.
Science - FOSS
FOSS was designed from its roots to provide every child with the opportunity to develop their ability to think scientifically. The FOSS staff at the Lawrence Hall of Science devised FOSS to fully integrate active investigation and multi-sensory learning, an approach proven effective for all learners, regardless of prior knowledge, language, or background.
