Week of January 26th:
Math:
Last week, students finished their testing on Module 11, dividing fractions. This week, we will learn how to convert customary units of measurement in Module 12. We will review on Friday and take the Module 12 test on Monday, 2/2.
Reading:
Students will work on character development and analyzing conflict through our read-aloud, The Titan's Curse. By looking at informational text, we will examine the main idea and supporting details. We will continue to practice these big ideas through our novel studies, in small groups. Students will complete their novel study work in class.
Spelling/Writing:
Students have a spelling packet to fill out this week for homework to practice their Spelling words for Unit 4 Week 1 Spelling quiz this week will be on Friday, along with a vocabulary quiz for those same words. They must turn in their spelling packet Friday.
In writing, we will finish final edits on our Argumentative Essays and share our writing. We will also continue to work on our understanding of complex and compound sentences in grammar.
Science Labs
This week, we will introduce biomes, and students will start their research for their projects. This project will be completed in school.
Week of February 2nd:
Math:
Students will take the Module 12 Test on Converting Customary Units on Monday of this week. Then, students will begin Module 13, decimal place value.

In writing, we will do a narrative writing pre-test. We will also introduce the aspects of narrative writing and help students develop ideas for their narrative essays.
Science Labs
This week, we will continue research for our biome projects.
Week of February 9th:
Students will review Decimal Place Value, Module 13, on Monday and take the Module 13 Test on Tuesday of this week. Then we will begin module 14, adding and subtracting decimals.

We will continue to practice these big ideas through our novel studies, in small groups. Students will complete their novel study work in class.
Spelling/Writing:
Students have a spelling packet to fill out this week for homework to practice their Spelling words for Unit 4 Week 3 Spelling quiz this week will be on THURSDAY, along with a vocabulary quiz for those same words. They must turn in their spelling packet this week since it is a short week.
In writing, we will share our argumentative essays and then work on practicing written responses to readings in a text.
