Week of February 9th:
Students will review Decimal Place Value, Module 13, on Monday and take the Module 13 Test on Tuesday of this week. Then we will begin module 14, adding and subtracting decimals.
Reading:
Students will work on character development and analyzing conflict through our read-aloud, The Titan's Curse. By looking at informational text, we will examine the main idea and supporting details. We will continue to practice these big ideas through our novel studies, in small groups. Students will complete their novel study work in class.
Spelling/Writing:
Students have a spelling packet to fill out this week for homework to practice their Spelling words for Unit 4 Week 3 Spelling quiz which will be on THURSDAY, along with a vocabulary quiz for those same words. They must turn in their spelling packet this week since it is a short week.
In writing, we will begin to work on learning about and analyzing narratives and then will brainstorm ideas for our own narrative writing.
Science Labs
This week, we will continue to develop biome projects.
Week of February 17th:
Math:
Students will continue working on adding and subtracting decimals this week, reviewing on Thursday, and testing Module 14 on Friday.
Reading:
Students will examine cause and effect and problem and solution through our read-aloud, The Titan's Curse. By looking at informational text, we will examine cause-and-effect. We will continue to practice these big ideas through our novel studies, in small groups. Students will complete their novel study work in class.
Spelling/Writing:
Students have a spelling packet to fill out this week for homework to practice their Spelling words for Unit 4 Week 4 Spelling quiz, which will be on Friday, along with a vocabulary quiz for those same words. They must turn in their spelling packet on Friday.
In writing, we will continue to work on our narratives while we begin to study poetry in writing on Fridays.

Week of February 23rd:
Students will learn about multiplying decimals through Modules 15 and 16, and will test Module 16 on Friday.

By looking at informational text, we will examine the main idea and supporting details. We will continue to practice these big ideas through our novel studies, in small groups. Students will complete their novel study work in class.
