Math
In Quarter 1, students will work through approximately the first eight modules. Topics covered will include:
Understanding multiplication
Understanding area
Multiplication and division concepts
Reading & Writing
Each week, students will:
Read a new story
Practice comprehension questions
Focus on grammar and phonics skills
Learn and apply new reading strategies
During Quarter 1, students will also review foundational writing skills and focus on informative and explanatory writing.
Math – HMH Into Math
HMH Into Math is a K–8 curriculum designed to build students’ conceptual understanding while helping them grow into confident, fluent mathematicians.
Science – FOSS
The FOSS program, developed by the Lawrence Hall of Science, emphasizes hands-on investigation and multisensory learning. It’s designed to help all students think scientifically, regardless of their prior knowledge, language, or background.
Writing – Step Up to Writing
Step Up to Writing® is a comprehensive, multisensory writing program that helps students develop the skills needed to create thoughtful, well-organized compositions. Its explicit and systematic approach provides clear strategies and supports to promote writing success across all content areas.
Social Studies – TCI
TCI’s Social Studies curriculum combines engaging content, meaningful technology, and proven instructional strategies to spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning.
Reading – Open Court
Open Court Reading is grounded in over 50 years of independent, research-based instruction. It combines systematic, explicit teaching with teacher input and learner verification. This program reinforces student learning through structured methods and proven strategies, resulting in measurable success for every learner.
Social Skills – Second Step
Second Step® programs support students in developing essential social-emotional skills such as building positive relationships, managing emotions, and setting goals—skills that help them thrive both in school and in life.
