In my classroom, I focus on positive behavior and reinforcement. I love to give praise to students who are behaving well and following classroom expectations. Students can earn "Leader" cards, which are entered into a drawing for a dress-down day on Fridays. In addition to this, students will have other opportunities—both as a class and individually—to earn rewards for demonstrating good behavior and following classroom expectations.
Our behavior expectations are rooted in the core values of LEADERS:
L – Leadership
Lead by example and empower others to grow as leaders
E – Excellence
Commit to high expectations, reflection, and growth
A – Accountability
Be responsible to one another and to our shared mission
D – Discovery
Embrace curiosity, creativity, and future-focused thinking
E – Engagement
Participate actively in our school and broader community
R – Respect
Honor the dignity, voice, and experiences of all
S – Service
Protect and elevate the community, environment, and future
