Hello I go by the name of Jo Mac
I began working for CPG in 2019.
My role within CPG is to deliver a holistic way of working to our residents, supporting individuals on a daily basis in their life journey, continually aiming to build a good rapport with Residents and Agencies. I avoid moral judgements, and aim to be approachable, remain reliable, with a friendly demeanor, demonstrating that we care.
Initially I trained to be a chef and worked in the Catering and Hospitality industry for many years, catering within a Team for many different events - including the Chelsea Flower show.
After the company I worked for went into liquidation, I found myself stumped. I decided to apply for some voluntary work at Newmarket Open Door, I worked in the food bank, alongside a man named John Durrant, a man who encouraged me to reeducate myself, as he felt I was good with the Service Users, however, John felt that I lacked confidence. After long chats with John and lack of belief in myself - John managed to persuade me to go to University and study Psychology & Sociology at Degree level. I have embarked on several courses such as Basic Counselling, CBT/CBC (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Coaching) which have also contributed to my ability to support individuals with their understanding in human behaviours.
I have worked in Portland House, Newmarket - Supported Housing for 16-21 year olds, I have also worked in a Supported Housing Scheme as a Project Assistant for seven years previously to working for CPG.
I would consider myself a sociable person, one who enjoys socialising with Family, Friends and getting to know New People, people interest me. I believe we are all works in progress, with the aim being, to be better than we were yesterday. I enjoy my own company and spend time enhancing myself through meditation, reading, cooking, looking into nutritional values and herbal benefits in foods and drinks etc. I also relax in awe with nature, to enjoy life's gift.
