The use of the physical environment to promote student learning is a hallmark of an experienced teacher. Its use varies, of course, with the age of the students: in a primary classroom, centers and reading corners may structure class activities; while with older students, the position of chairs and desks can facilitate, or inhibit, rich discussion. Naturally, classrooms must be safe (no dangling wires or dangerous traffic patterns), and all students must be able to see and hear what’s going on so that they can participate actively. Both the teacher and students must make effective use of electronics and other technology.

This assignment I completed in my Early Field Practicum about our classroom we were in. It required me to watch the routines, transition and such and helped me see the big picture of what a classroom needs to make it seem like it worked. Having a classroom with organization helps the students fill the support and structure which helps them to enhance their learning. I loved being able to see what other teachers do and how I can implement that in my future classroom.
Attached is a classroom drawing of what classrooms that I have been in look like! I have dreamed of having my own class since I was little. I think it is so important to have a space where it is organized and clean to have the kids feel safe in their school environment. Organizing the students physical space helps the students feel like the classroom can be theres and they can feel like they are a part of it. It helps build that connection and have them feel safe in the environment and when they feel safe, they can improve their learning.
